Our Vision (About Us)
Young Persons site

The Irish Association of Young People in Care (IAYPIC) has as its aims to give a voice to what young people in care are saying, to promote the rights of children in care, to provide information, advice and support to young people and to promote the participation of young people. This association, in achieving these aims, hopes to answer some of the unanswered questions of children and young people in care

A vision statement:

  • The Irish Association of Young People in Care will approach its work from a rights-based perspective which will involve young people in all aspects of its work. It will be a voice for young people with care experience.
  • It will be a young people's organisation that will work towards putting young people at the centre of the care system as primary users and recipients of the system and will promote their active participation in decision making.
  • Young people will be involved intrinsically in influencing policy, legislation, practice and procedures. They will be at the centre of planning and reviewing services locally and nationally.

A mission statement:

  • To advocate for and promote the rights and needs of young people with care experience through their participation at all levels throughout the care system
